Ojanen reached the podium at Thruxton

During his long motorsport career in Finland, France, the Netherlands, and also in England, Sami Ojanen from Punkalaidun, who has raced in truck racing series, captured four out of five podium placements with his Sisu SR300 truck at the third race weekend of the British Truck Racing Championship held at the Thruxton circuit in South England. Despite technical troubles, Ojanen, who is racing in his first full season in England, was consistently either the second or third fastest in the so-called second division of the competitions.

– Even though we had more than enough technical problems, we managed to get every start to the finish line, thus achieving our goals; four podium placements out of five possible was nearly a perfect result. A fifth place was also on the way, but due to a 20-second penalty, I ended up fourth in that race, Ojanen says.

– This was a good continuation from the earlier races held at Brands Hatch and Pembrey. Good points from Thruxton also provide excellent prospects for the next races of the series, which will take place at Donington Park on the second weekend of August, where we will again challenge the top drivers of the second division with our somewhat older race car, Ojanen continues. The Thruxton race weekend was catastrophic for series leader Jake Evans, who suffered a complete engine failure and ended up without points. As a result, Simon Cole, who has achieved a hat trick with three victories, Callum Eason, Brad Harvey, Archie Handy, and the only Finnish driver in the series, Sami Ojanen, managed to close the gap that Cole had opened up in previous races.
